Marini returns to the Battery for 2020.

The one they call “Mini Messi”, Dante Marini, has joined the ranks of returnees for the Charleston Battery in 2020.
Marini becomes the fifth player to commit to the Black and Yellow for the new campaign, after a flurry of announcements last week that included Jarad van Schaik, Leland Archer, Zeiko Lewis and Nicque Daley.
After a season ending injury in 2018, the winger returned with great impact in last season’s campaign, scoring a string of vital goals, especially earning a penchant for late game heroics, playing a key role, gaining the role of a super sub en route to the Battery’s 12th consecutive playoff berth.
Marini will, as with the majority of the announced returning players, be looking for more minutes. Now in his seventh season with the Battery, more will surely be asked of the winger on and off the field, and the fan favorite enters the new season with a point to prove as a part of the core of the squad.
Fans will be able to see Marini in 2020 beginning on March 8th with an away trip to Atlanta United II. The Battery’s home opener is on March 28th against Philadelphia Union II..
