Piggott returns to the Battery for 2020

Romario Piggott is the latest addition to the Battery’s 2020 side, with an announcement Tuesday that he will be back for his second full season in Black and Yellow

Initially signed in the back half of 2018, the attacking midfielder would attend college at Coastal Carolina in 2017 before signing for the Myrtle Beach Mutiny the following year, and then quickly acclimatizing himself within the Battery setup, earning himself a contract with a view to significant minutes for 2019.

He found those minutes easy to come by, playing all across the midfield in 26 league appearances for the Black and Yellow, of which 21 of those were starts. That dynamism helped plug several holes throughout the year, what with injuries and general squad depth issues.

Much like his fellow attacking players, Piggott will look for more consistency in 2020. He was second only behind Zeiko Lewis in chances created, but only accounted for three goals and six assists, but did earn Player of the Month honors once in the closed season, in June, after stellar performances against Birmingham and Swope Park.

Piggott is another player entering his second full season as a Battery player, meaning that his minutes will only increase as time goes on. He’ll be hoping he, and his team, can achieve great things in the coming campaign.

That campaign begins on March 8, away to Atlanta United II, before opening their new home at Patriot’s Point on March 28.
