Anunga, Battery up for Best of Charleston awards

Tah Brian Anunga and the Charleston Battery are both up for the Charleston City Paper’s annual Best of Charleston awards in two separate categories.

Battery midfielder Anunga is up for Best Local Athlete, while his club is up for Best Local Sports Team.

The awards are voted on by the community and are eligible to be voted on through February 23rd at the Best of Charleston website here.

The Charleston Battery have brought four Championships to the City and have been a pillar of the community since their inception in 1993. Tah Brian Anunga will begin his third season in Black and Yellow in 2019 after starting all of his 32 appearances in 2018, racking up 2,851 minutes, as a lynchpin of the side that made the USL playoffs for an 11th straight year.

The 2019 Charleston Battery preseason begins this weekend, February 10th with a match against the College of Charleston before the beginning of the Carolina Challenge Cup, where the Battery face FC Cincinnati in the second game of a doubleheader on February 16th. The USL Championship season then begins on March 9th against the Ottawa Fury.
